My Sweet Boy

Well its the week we have been all been anticipating--I should say I have been--and Alex too. He is turning 8 years old in 4 days. This is a big thing for our family because he is going to be baptized. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints getting baptized is a big step and with this decision he will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost through the power of the priesthood. He will have the guidance and direction of the Holy Ghost throughout his life to help him to know the truthfulness of all things, to keep him from deception, and to help him to Choose the Right in a world of so much chaos.

Of course he is also pretty excited for his upcoming birthday party. He is having all of his friends over to watch a movie on our big screen- we are having a snack bar, popcorn and pop- 10 boys and lots of fun. These are the invitations that I made for each of the events. They mark a moment that we will remember for all our lives.

Nicholas' Passion

For those of you out there who think I am making it up about Nicholas and his obsession with Monster Trucks---here's the proof. As i walked out to pick the other kids up at the bus stop I couldn't help but smile at the work he had put into lining up all his monster trucks because according to him, "monster trucks go in the dirt" He had great time playing in our "work site" that has been the greatest home made play area since Alex was 3 or so. Anyway here are some photos I had to snap to capture this moment.

Good times!

Christmas was filled with family and friends, gifts and games, socializing and food. The most fun was to watch the kids in anticipation of everything that was going on. As they get older I find myself enjoying holiday's even more. With the snow this year i found that all my planning was unsuccessful. Everything that i wanted to get done was still done last minute because the snow did not allow me to get out and about the way I would have liked. But with David's help and understanding it was all accomplished an our Christmas was memorable and enjoyable. Take a look at a few of our highlights here.

Beginning Anew

I must say I have done a lot of blogging but I have been doing more private blogging. I decided this year to make my blogging more of a journal. I spend too much time on the computer and not enough time doing the things I know I should be doing ie. spending time with my kids, writing in my journal, seeking knowledge out of the best books, etc... I know these things are more important than some of the other things I have been doing with my time. I must admit I have been more idle than I should be. With the new year I have resolved to spend more quality time with my kids and husband, doing what they want to do, or talking about what they want to talk about. With that resolve comes capturing those moments on paper (or a blog) in my case. So I began a blog called moment by moment to daily write those things that I do with my children or those things that I learn from my children and husband. Another goal that I am beginning again is to keep a journal of those things I learn from the lessons i teach in Sunday School. I did it for the entire year of the New Testament and for the first half of the year of the book of mormon and then I allowed other things to take the place of the time I was setting aside for doing this. so I started a blog called peace of mind. I made theses blogs private but if you are interested in reading them I can invite you just let me know. My family is so important to me and I don't want my selfish desires to get in the way of teaching them and learning from them. I figure I have only a few years until they want to be with their friends more than me and if I don't become their friend now I will have a more difficult time keeping them as friends later. So most likely this blog will be kept up once or twice a month so that I can keep my other blogs up to date daily and weekly. I am sure every now and then I'll need to get my thoughts out on paper and this will be the venue for that. And of course I'll keep this posted with pictures of special events in our family. Upcoming Events are Alex's 8th birthday and his baptism. i will be posting an invitation to that special event for anyone who would like to attend. Until then begin anew with your New Year's Resolutions. Resolve to make changes- work hard at them- become a better you!
